Costa Rica is a very popular destination for
bird watchers, more than 900 species of birds can be found in this country, but without a doubt one of
the most desired to observe is the Quetzal.
Belongs to the family of the trogons, among the
most colorful birds of tropical America and probably the most beautiful trogon
you will ever see, this magnificent bird has glittering green plumages and
bright crimson on belly, in essence this is one of the most attractive birds of
Costa Rica.
It is a common resident of the Cordillera de
Tilarán, where the Monteverde
Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is located, every year thousands of
tourists come to this magnificent cloud forest to have the opportunity to spot
this bird, this cloud forest is the right place to look for it because there
are many aguacatillo(small avocado) trees, a small fruit that the quetzal loves
to eat. Naturalist guides know very well where this aguacatillo (small
avocado)trees are located and there they will stop, look for it and point their
telescopes so tourists can clearly watch this amazing bird.
Monteverde
Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is very well known for hosting this
beautiful bird, among many other species, considered a paradise for
birdwatchers, this area is an area you should not miss.
